Natasha Wicker, Equipment Manager, is one of our primary operations contacts at Covenant Logistics. Our paths overlapped in 2018 when we worked opposite ends of a peak season project. I managed around 100 3rd party carriers and Natasha worked them into her 7,000 trailer fleet. She kept the 3rd party trucks planned and trailers assigned through peak season. All while staying on top of her normal demanding trailer management responsibilities.
Working with her at REPOWR has been no different. Natasha is quick to communicate, fair, and solution oriented. Myself and the REPOWR supplier and operations teams are grateful to work with her every day.
How did you get your start in the logistics industry?
I got my start in the logistics industry when Covenant took a chance on me straight out of college. I was first hired as an Equipment Specialist.
Can you tell us about Covenant and your role there?
Covenant consists of multiple divisions of over the road, dedicated, and warehouse operations. My role is to manage the utilization of trailers in all areas. I keep communication flowing between ops, breakdown, finance, etc. in regards to equipment.
What do you see as the biggest challenge facing the logistics industry?
From an equipment standpoint, the logistics industry has to address trailer aging. The pandemic caused a bottleneck in production and purchasing of new equipment. The average age of units on the road has risen over the last few years.
How has REPOWR helped you with those challenges?
REPOWR has definitely helped save out of network trailers. Trailers that end up farther out of network would be a challenge to recover without them. We have also used REPOWR to monetize idle assets when they are not needed over the road.
What are you most excited about for the logistics industry?
I'm curious to see how as AI becomes more prominent. It may revolutionize areas of the supply chain in ways we never would have imagined.
